On behalf of myself and the Committee I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting me in particular and MKAS in general throughout the year.
It gave me great pride to be your Chairman last year, but particularly this year being International Year of Astronomy.
We, as a Society have grown greatly over the last few years in quantity and in the quality of our members. I put this down to a strong, willing and dedicated Committee for, Organising Events, Quality Speakers and Observing Sessions.
I am not going to mention anyone by name (they know who they are, and not just Committee Members) who have work endlessly at the Observatory, Cleaning (Internally & Externally), Adjusting, Improving and Maintaining both the Observatory and all the Equipment we have there.
Our Website is now rated by “Astronomy Now Magazine”, as one of the best they have seen, and I give thanks to all who were involved in setting up, improving and maintaining it.
We have provided an excellent service throughout the year to our Members, Several Schools, and the General Public by hosting “Moonwatch” in the Spring and the Autumn at Dockside and other events in Maidstone and at Canterbury. Thanks again to all who contributed.
It only now, remains for me to welcome you to our Christmas Party (This Friday) which I hope will be a lot of fun, and wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year (with clear skies) of course.
Graham
MKAS Chairman
