A highly successful AGM was held on Friday 14th of March,
followed by a presentation on Astro-imaging by Paul Cheesman and Steve Wellsted.

The AGM passed very successfully (successful in the regard that sufficient members were there at the start for it to start on time and all matters on the agenda were dealt with).

Ken Baker chaired the meeting:

   - What is the society doing to commemorate the IAU Year of Astronomy (2009)?
   - What is the process for electing committee members?
   - Would the committee like to buy my old tube mounting rings?

Graham advised the meeting that he would no longer be performing the Treasurers Office, the committee passed a vote of thanks for his support for the past six years.  In celebration, Graham offered to buy all those present a drink (an offer that was gladly accepted).  The meeting was then dissolved and an election of committee members took place.   There were 12 candidates for 11 seats on the committee - all existing members stood for re-election and were duly returned.  Bob Oseman kindly acted as the independent returning officer, counting the ballot slips.

 Astrophotography

Following the meeting Paul Cheesman and Steve Wellsted gave two cracking good discussional presentations on their experiences in astrophotography, presenting some of their images and the background on how they were taken.   They were extremely worthwhile, some of the images can be viewed in the galleries on this website, but to see the originals and hear about their origination you had to be there!
