 | MKAS App The MKAS App is now available for members and visitors to install on your phones and tablets and use on your computers. The app is free for all, and is the quickest way to access information on MKAS events and get to recent Alerts as well as find out your membership details, or how to join for non-members. The app is not available on the App Stores; to install, follow these simple instructions to install it on your device.  | It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of another of MKAS' most loved experts and characters, Chris Sherwood. Chris has been a long-term member of MKAS, including spending many years as a key member of Committee. Chris will be sadly missed by all that knew him and our thoughts and sympathies go out to Chris's wife Brenda and family. We will be celebrating Chris' huge contribution to MKAS at a future meeting. |
 | It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing of one of MKAS' most loved experts and characters, Peter Parish. Peter was one of the earliest members of Mid-Kent Astronomical Association (MKAA) way back in 1977 before it changed it's name to MKAS. Over many years, Peter thrilled MKAS members with his deep knowledge of all things Astronomical and his incredible enthusiasm to pass on his interests and knowledge to all those around him, not to mention his incredible observers eyesight! Peter passed away suddenly on 8th December 2020 while working on his latest astronomy project after having been out for a 5 mile walk earlier that day! Peter will be sadly missed by all that knew him and our thoughts and sympathies go out to Peter's wife Val and children Colin and Karen. We will be holding a Peter Parish Memorial meeting soon, when we will be recounting Peter's many interests and contributions, together with his many exploits with MKAS through anecdotes from the many members that have come to know and love Peter. Details of the Memorial Meeting will be announced in due course. |
| Comet NEOWISE The latest comet, NEOWISE, is visible in the evening sky, to the North-East. There are pictures on our Facebook page, which you can also see at the bottom of the HOME page of our website. See if you can find the comet yourself, and send us your photos. 13th July 2020 |
| CORONAVIRUS UPDATE In line with the latest government advice on social distancing, no further meetings will take place in person, at either Bredhurst nor at our Observatory in Canterbury. | MKAS NEEDS YOUR HELP! We are looking for a permanent site to house our historic GP20 Telescope, and make use of it. If you know anybody with some land, or an outbuilding, or perhaps a clubhouse, where we could move the telescope to, and set it up for use, we are keen to speak to you. 31st March 2020 |
