Moore Moon Marathon
BBC Sky At Night Moon Guide

Print out the mmm-section-1 and 2 which show you where the features can be found on the Moon's disc and also gives you a brief explanation of each of the features. Do not rush at this as there is a lot of visual detail to be seen in and around each of these features that can only be truly appreciated by allowing the eye to rove around and take in the surrounding areas. Try using a lunar filter if you have one and also some different colour filters and see whether these bring out more detail for you. Also try to commit to memory the names of the features and you will be surprised at just how quickly you will start to remember some of them. There are more than sufficient subjects to view in Sections 1 & 2 for one night's observing. So remember don't rush, read the info and above all enjoy your observing!

There are three more sections to the Moore Moon Marathon that you can find by following the above link but the first two sections contain features that are ideal for viewing near Full Moon.
